MAHDIEH PRIMARY SCHOOL SANITATION SERVICES PROJECT

  Mahdieh Primary School is located approximately 50 km south of Tehran in a remote village called Manjil Abbad. About 800 pupils attend the school in two separate shifts, morning and afternoon, as part of their compulsory primary education. A severe lack of sanitation facilities and the absence of hot water at the school caused significant difficulties, especially for pupils aged 6 to 11. This issue was brought to the attention of the FACE. Following a thorough analysis of the project and successful fundraising efforts, construction began in 2016 on a 52-square-meter sanitation facility with a 24/7 supply of hot water. The work was completed in about five months and is now used daily by over 800 pupils.
