Our biggest construction project focuses on empowering young girls through education. This initiative involved completing a 10-classroom secondary school in Gachsaran, located in the Kohkiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province. The project was originally launched in April 2018 by another organisation with the goal of establishing a significant educational facility in an area with an urgent need for such resources. Construction started well, but unfortunately, in the summer of 2020, the original project was abandoned due to a lack of funds. The need for this school remained critical, as there was a severe shortage of secondary schools for girls in the region. FACE was approached by Naza Alakija, founder and CEO of the S.A.G.E Innovation Centre, who expressed a strong interest in promoting girls' education in this area. In collaboration with the Benevolent School Builders of Kohkiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad and with support from our sponsor, the project details were finalized, culminating in a formal agreement to complete the construction. The target completion date was set for the end of summer 2021, with the school expected to provide educational facilities for over 240 local girls during the 2021/2022 academic year. The school was named in the local language as "Dabirestane Dokhtaraneh Setareh (Sima1)" - Setareh High School for Girls (FACE 1)—in the honour of late great-grandmother of our generous sponsor. The total cost of completing the project was around £25,000, fully funded by the S.A.G.E Innovation Centre.
